이진주는 회화를 통해 생명이 태어나고 확장되는 세계를 구축하는 작가이다. 그녀의 작업은 사회 속에서 경험하는 감정과 압박, 그리고 존재의 인정 욕구에서 출발한다. 화면 속 세계는 섬, 씨앗, 식물, 빛으로 구성되어 있으며, 이는 내면과 외부의 관계를 상징적으로 드러낸다.
작품 속 씨앗의 존재 ‘오(O)’와 ‘후(Hoo)’는 인간 내면의 양가적 감정을 대변한다. ‘오’는 뿌리내리지 못한 가능성의 씨앗이고, ‘후’는 바람을 따라 흔적을 남기는 존재이다. 이들은 시작과 흔적, 안정과 변화가 교차하는 내면의 서사를 보여준다.
그녀의 회화에서 식물은 감정의 축적과 생명의 순환을 상징하며, 빛은 그 세계를 변화시키는 원동력으로 작용한다. 이진주는 한 점의 식물과 씨앗을 기록하는 행위를 통해 자신의 존재를 새기고, 관람자에게는 자신의 감정을 비춰보는 거울을 제시한다. 그녀의 세계는 끊임없이 생성되고 소멸하며, 다시 태어나는 살아 있는 공간으로 확장된다.
Leepearl is an artist who constructs a world where life is born and expands through painting. Her work originates from the emotional pressures of living within society and the innate human desire for recognition. The landscapes she creates—composed of islands, seeds, plants, and light—serve as metaphors for the relationship between the inner self and the outer world.
Within her narratives, the seed-beings O and Hoo embody the duality of human emotion. O represents the potential that has yet to take root, while Hoo drifts with the wind, leaving traces behind. Together, they reflect the tension between stability and change, beginnings and the desire for remembrance.
In her paintings, plants symbolize the accumulation of emotion and the cycle of life, while light acts as a driving force that transforms the world. Through the act of recording seeds and plants, Leepearl inscribes her existence and invites viewers to reflect upon their own emotional landscapes. Her world continually arises, fades, and is reborn—an ever-evolving living space.
